Chart developed based on BSIA image standards for cctv.
DORI is a standard developed by the British Security Industry Association, BSIA. The BSI document titled “planning, design, installation and operation of CCTV surveillance systems code of practice and associated guidance” covers many aspects of surveillance systems.
True Wide Dynamic Range
For decades, higher end cameras have included WDR. WDR takes a low light optimized and a high light optimized image setting and stitches the two photos into one image to prevent shadows from being too dark. The industry standard way of describing WDR is to state whether it is digital or True/optical (with true/optical WDR being better since optical WDR also still has digital WDR). The industry standard way is to describe the WDR spec is to state the dB that the true/optical WDR uses, with higher dB ratings being better.
Smart IR is a technology built into some security cameras that adjusts the intensity of the camera's infrared LEDs to compensate for the distance of an object so that the infrared does not overexpose the object.
The image to the right compared a CCTV camera with smart IR to one without. The camera with smart IR that was used for the video capture had an infrared range up to 100 feet, but as you can see, it is able to adjust the intensity of the IR LEDs for the man that approached the camera within 3 feet.
DarkFighter cameras implement a larger sensor, a larger lens aperture, and smart gain control technology to dramatically improve nighttime image performance. Noise reduction improvements in hardware and software effectively reduce image noise in low illumination scenes. This noise reduction will also keep file sizes and storage requirements to aminimum, which is also associated with significant cost savings. Finally, anti-foggingand non-silicon oil heat conduction and dissipation enhance image definition and ensure
DarkFighter cameras deliver bright, clear, high-quality color images at night, thus providinghighly effective video surveillance around the clock
Starlight Technology
Dahua’s Starlight technology uses optical, sensor and image processing technologies to provide clear images in dark environments. Any Dahua camera with an IR cut filter (ICR) is designed to switch to night mode when the camera senses that insufficient light is available to reproduce good color images. When night mode is triggered, the IR cut filter disengages allowing infrared as well as visible illumination to reach the image sensor.
Additionally, the camera electronically suppresses any color information providing clear monochrome images down to a certain light level. Many cameras include built-in IR illuminators to further illuminate the scene, reducing noise.
Night Color Technology
Night Color technology works differently than the technology used in Starlight cameras. Cameras that incorporate Night Color technology use a high-performance sensor and ISP, and an achromatic large aperture lens, to produce crisp, clear color images in low-light environments. This light-sensitive technology allows the camera to remain in Color Mode and to capture more available light to reproduce color images with superior detail and contrast in applications with at least 1 lux of ambient or artificial light.
Night Color Technology does not utilize an IR Cut filter. This results in an image that remains in color 24/7 without switching to black/white. Night color also utilizes an Achromatic lens. Dahua Night Color cameras also have an f-stop of 1.0 to deliver crisper and clearer full-color images in all environments with at least 1 lux of ambient light.
